Update from CP 9

17:10 Update from CP 9

18 teams have finished their paddle and are heading out on the 210km bike leg.

Getting to the 30 km white water section on the Kiewa River has been the focus of many of the teams over the last 24 hours.

Outdoors Australia were the last team to be let on the river but had to be at Mongans Bridge by 6:00 to be permitted to finish the course via the boat and not have to revert to portaging, which after 92km on foot already they were not keen to do.

20 minutes into the paddle teams navigated a nice section of river which took it's toll on some of the teams. There was a nice left hand line, however many of the teams were running river right and getting snagged on rocks and filling up their boats. Those who did navigated through safely.

Currently the following teams have come into CP 9 and 6 of those were still in CP

11:55 Blackheart Solomon

11:56 Tangerine

The checkpoint is a hive of activity with teams packing up all of their warm weather gear to head out on the leg. Currently 9 teams (Yogi Bears, Austrelaps, Cyclepath, Sutmap BEAN, Mawson, Little Miss Sunshine, Caffinated, and Area51).

The weather is not looking good for the next two days with cold and wet conditions ahead. The fire is going so teams are huddling around the fire and drying clothes.
