Teams braving the bad weather with 7 teams on their way to Falls Creek from Mt Feathertop

It is 9:00 am and we have just had a report that Blackheart are still leading the pack having arrived at CP4 (Mt Feathertop) at 3:30 am this morning. Blackheart pushed on from Harrietville opting not to stop for a sleep between CP's 3 and 4.

Blackheart have a solid lead over their other team Blackheart/Salomon who arrived at 3:30am. The Bull of Africa have steadied their pace arriving at CP4 at 6:25, followed by Tangerine (7:27), 4TC (7:34), Nag Rakau (8:23) and Mawson (8:24). It is believed that some of these teams have stopped at the high country huts for a rest so will be starting the day at least a little rested.

The weather at Falls Creek is not great, with raining and foggy conditions.

This leg (85km trek CP3 - CP7) is expected to take teams between 19 and 38 hours but with the tough weather conditions this may increase. Teams will be trying to maintain a consistent pace to get through to the start of the Kayak before nightfall on Friday night. Teams that arrive after this time will not be allowed onto the water and will need to do the leg on foot, which after coming out of a tough 85km trek will be the last thing that they will want to do.
