Teams weigh their gear and get the course!

This afternoon teams weighed in their gear before handing in their gear trunks, bike boxes and paddle bags to be packed onto the trucks to be transported to the race start tomorrow morning.

Austrelpas had some last minute packing and unpacking after their initial weigh in came in with some boxes over the 25kg weight limit.

Tangerine showed their team experience, with all boxes weighing in just under the maximum weights with not a kilogram wasted.

The Thredbo gym was lined end to end with gear as teams patiently waited for race officials to weigh in.

Outdoor Australia, after a few days of deliberation about whether the 3kg fruit cake (and a bunch of other gear), would tip them over the weight limit came in underweight and were madly adding extra luxuries that had got the cut the day earlier. As some last minute items were thrown into the bike box, team mate Sean noticed that his tyre had gone flat, adding to the extra nerves for this first timers team. After a quick tyre change, tubs and boxes were weighed and they were off to mark up the maps.

The 210km mountain bike leg was a much talked about topic as teams worked their way through marking up the courses. It is the longest (and rumoured to be the toughest) mountain bike leg that XPD has ever seen! The mountain bike leg comes off the back of a big trek and a white water paddle - all in the first half of the course!
