XPD THE LARGEST EXPEDITION RACE OF 2007
Reaching it’s limit with a sell out of 80 teams of four adventurers,
XPD is set to have the largest field to an expedition race in the world
this year. When entries opened it took a mere 12 hours for all the slots
to sell out. Since then 320 expedition racers from around the globe have
been preparing for what promises to be as much an expedition as a race.
XPD 3rd Edition will take 80 teams of four athletes on an amazing expedition
through reef, rainforest and outback. Teams will experience the majestic
Whitsunday Islands, lush highland rainforests and the harsh Queensland
outback.” They will be unsupported over their 700+km journey as
they race day and night on a course involving stages of trekking, mountain
biking, kayaking, and snorkeling. Dates are the 20-31 August 2007 and
XPD promises to be “as much an expedition as a race”.
For a couple of teams unfortunately, preparations proved too difficult
and they have had to surrender their slot. If you missed out on the Adventure
Racing World Championships or just want to compete in a real expedition
race, you better move quick! Contact craig@gar.com.au for more details
on securing one of the spots.
As a member of the AR World Series, XPD is a qualifying event for the
Adventure Race World Championship. The AR World Series is an international
circuit of premiere adventure races representing 7 countries creating
a 12 month calendar of professional events around the world.
